The residential town of Llubi is situated approximately 45km, or 28 miles, north east of the capital Palma, and the Son Sant Joan International Airport.

Although figures taken from the latest Consell de Mallorca census for the island, shows a resident population of around 2,000 in the town, you could well be excused for never hearing of Llubi before, because as with so many of the other smaller towns on Majorca, the area around Llubi is relatively untouched by tourism, and certainly doesn’t feature in any of the major tour operators holiday brochures.

If finding Llubi on a map of the island is difficult, then actually making the short trip from the Son Sant Joan airport is an absolute nightmare of a journey for an inexperienced driver, and since public transport for the transfer just isn't really a practical option, we strongly suggest making the initial trip to your accommodation by one of the numerous taxis waiting outside the arrivals hall.

However, should you have already made provision to collect a hire car from the airport, or alternatively see this journey to be a challenge, our suggested route into the town from Palma is not necessarily the most direct, but can nevertheless be found, as with the other destinations on this site, on the Route Map link on the left hand frame of this page.

The actual town of Llubi derives is name from the Roman place name of "Castro-Lupino", and is located between two hills, between which runs the Torrent d´Aumadrà stream.

Llubi is a quiet agricultural town, which is known on Mallorca for its cultivation of capers, and many of its houses are good examples of traditional Majorcan architecture.
