Attractions:

In Consell village, the aforementioned Parish Church of Our Lady of Visitation lies in the Plaza Mayor and is well worth a visit. The grand and imposing appearance of the building from the outside is somewhat in contrast to the beautiful and intricate interior of the church, which is rectangular, with lateral chapels and an apse. The church has barrel vaulting and the quarter sphere of the apse has been integrated into it.

Anybody with an interest in art should take a look at the reredos of Saint Joseph, and two Gothic figures of Christ - one dating from the end of the 16th and one from the 17th Century. Also look out for an exquisite carving of The Virgin Mary dating from the end of the 19th Century, and the font, which dates from 1719.

As with so many Majorcan communities, Consell is famous for its traditional fiestas, the first of which is the fiesta of San Antonio Abat, held on January 17th. This is followed in August by the fiesta of the patron saint of the village, San Bartolome. An Autumn Fair is also held on the third Sunday in October.

A more regular event is a very large car boot sale, held every Sunday in the village’s industrial centre. Perhaps not an obvious choice as an attraction, but this can be a good place to pick up authentic Majorcan produce. A weekly market also takes place every Thursday in the Plaza Mayor. Sampling some local produce is a good reason for visiting Consell, and it is the perfect place to enjoy the smooth Majorcan red wines that the municipality is famous for.

Aside from wine, Consell is renowned for its "Camaiot", a regional speciality made with a mixture of pork meats, and its "Sobrassada" sausage. These and other goodies can be bought in any of the village’s four excellent butchers. The village is also renowned for the quality of its bread and has three bakeries to choose from.
