buger majorca

Despite its small size there is plenty to enjoy in Buger, particularly in the shape of the traditional windmills that dot the landscape. The Molí de Can Garindo is perhaps the best example as it is, at present, the only mill in the municipality that has been fully restored with new sails.

The Church of Sant Pere in Buger itself is another hugely impressive structure and well worth visiting. The church dates from1739 and was built after the bishop of Majorca granted the licence to the inhabitants of Buger to build a church, as he was concerned that so many people were dying without having received the Holy Sacraments.

The Creus de Terme crosses are also worth looking at: these large crosses originally determined the limits of the village and used to play an important part in the Holy Week processions that take place through the streets.

Another chief attraction of this municipality is the wonderful countryside. The rugged terrain makes for some truly fantastic walks and there are many lovely little footpaths dotted around the area, which take in the beautiful green valleys, woods and rock formations that make up the landscape of the municipality.

By venturing to Lluc, on the north-western edge of the municipality one can follow a beautiful path through the cypress forests to the old manor house of Finca Mossa. This is a private residence and the owner only allows visitor onto his land on Sundays, but it is well worth a visit. The estate is extensive and allows for a pleasant walk through the valley of the Torrent de Mossa, before coming across the house itself. You can then climb up a steep slope to a panoramic point on the hills above, an excellent place for a picnic and a chance to soak up the delightful scenery all around you.
